Teaching Speaking through Story Telling: The Case of a Junior High School

This collaborative classroom action research described the use of storytelling in teaching English speaking. The subjects were 13 junior high school students at SMP Laboratorium STKIP Jambi, Indonesia. qualitative data consisted field notes, students’ diaries, photographs, and videos learning process collected through observations analyzed descriptively. quantitative students' scores their speaking performance generated tests by using Microsoft Excel. findings showed that could attract attention to lesson encourage them speak English. Pronouncing words, constructing sentences, retelling story enhance performance. mean got a significant improvement from cycle cycle.
